3 Very Easy Twitter or Instant Messaging Games to Energize your Virtual Team

I was asked recently if I knew of Twitter or Instant Messaging Games as a team that just became virtual needed to determine how to be more comfortable using instant messaging. Below are three instant messaging games that I suggested. You may find them useful for your virtual team activities as well.

Summer Vacation
1. First person type in their favourite vacation spot
2. Whatever that word ends with, the other person in the list of attendees has to type in their vacation spot or a famous vacation spot that starts with the last letter in that word.
Example: First one types in “Bora Bora” and the next one in order of the list of names types in “Atlanta”.
You can run this with different topics. The last person who can’t think of another word will get a point – the one with the most points losses. You can send virtual gifts to the rest of the winners. You can have a speed version of this game as well especially with increased level of comfort and knowledge of the topic otherwise you’ll run this game the whole day.

Name Them All
Coordinator will type “let’s name all xxx.”
In order of the individuals in the instant messaging window, each one types in the name of xxxx.
Topic ideas: all types of pop, all types of cars, toothpaste brand, names of cereal brands, kinds of fruits, kinds of subjects at university, names of fast food chains, types of dogs, name all colors, types of sports
The last person who can’t think of another word will get a point – the one with the most points losses. You can send virtual gifts to the rest of the winners.

First Names Only
Level 1
Type in all names you can think of that starts with the letter “X” or “Q” (don’t use easy letters like “A” or “D” as your game will not end)
The last person who can’t think of another word will get a point – the one with the most points losses. You can send virtual gifts to the rest of the winners.
Level 2
2. Type in all names you can think of that starts with the easier letters like “C” or “E” BUT with only 5 letters
The last person who can’t think of another word will get a point – the one with the most points losses. You can send virtual gifts to the rest of the winners.
