Live Earth, Singing Bicycles, Tour de France & The New Seven Wonders

As I’m heading back home today, lots of events in London… there’s the Tour de France kick off that closed Trafalgar Square last night. In conjunction with this event is the Symphony for Singing Bicycles which is a creation of Belgian experimental composer Godfried Willem-Raes. The symphony involves lengths of tubing attached, along with dynamos and loud speakers, to bikes which are then ‘played’ as they are cycled around. Quite an interesting sight.

Then Live Earth Concert, where more than 2 billion people are engaged to raise awareness about global warming, is underway headlined by Duran Duran, Madonna, Genesis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Eyed Peas, Metallica, Corinne Bailey Rae, Spinal Tap, Keane and others. Its simultaneously happening in New York, Johannesberg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, and Hamburg.

In Lisbon, Portugal the New Seven Wonders of the World are being live streamed broadcast and on local TV which when incorporated with the other events keeps everyone indoors on this windy day.

Hope there’s no delays at Heathrow Airport.
