I’m walking among giants… ! Consistent blogger needed here.

By now, most of you would be familiar with the McKinsey Research’s nine trends of Web 2.0. [subscription needed unfortunately to pick this up here ]. One of the great opportunities online is to walk among giants; a Net Neutrality vision and one entry is through blogging.

McKinsey Research 9 Web 2.0 trends

My friend, David Peralty, recently posted the pro’s and con’s of being a problogger. In interviewing bloggers, execs and colleagues for a chapter I was writing on Leveraging Corporate Blogging for Training for a book sponsored by Simon Fraser, I wanted to refer to Bryght’s Chief Blogger, Roland Tanglao’s comment on the need for creating compelling content constantly. Two points are key from this quote: Compelling Content and Constant (or to me, that would be Consistent; a bit of a nuance change there).

For Compelling Content to exist, I believe in developing a Clear Voice.Everyone is talking, literally – text, email, portals, blog, wikis, twits, pokes, nudges, smiles, flicks… its everywhere. What is NOT everywhere is a Clear Voice.

For Constant or Consistency in blogging – Time and again this have been discussed. It is an important fact of a blogger’s life. Some indicators of its value have been blogged about through the years – samples of which can be found here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

With a Consistent Clear Voice, my blogging nirvana can be achieved… the ability to not just to walk among giants but together we become better giants. We have the information (it’s all over), we have the voice, we just need to refine that voice to be fresh, raw, disruptive, innovative, imaginative, inventive, creative, critically thought out that will thus move us forward as a civilization. Think Dadaism for the 2010’s where its war against mediocrity and information regurgitation. Think Renaissance blogger. Think New Thought as the most important key competency, skill, and requirement for every employee in organizations from here on.

Today I find out that I’m an SOB. That’s Successful and Outstanding Blogs (not the one you’re thinking of). Liz Strauss sends out her list now and then and boom! I got in this weekend! Thanks Liz! This reminds me…

  • Thanks for the mention. I agree about the consistency, but it can be very difficult, and it gets even more so when you can’t give the blog the focus that they require. More and more I try to think of my blog as a book I am working on, and giving it that respect helps me stay consistent with my writing voice, and also spurs me to be consistent with my publishing.
