canadaarmy.jpgToday I find out that I’m an SOB. That’s Successful and Outstanding Blogs (not the one you’re thinking of). Liz Strauss sends out her list now and then and boom! I got in this weekend! Thanks Liz!

This reminds me of Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba’s words. They are the writers of the book Citizen Marketers. They indicated that in every audience of 100 people, you’ll find 80% will pretty much stay to themselves, 20% will browse, consume and talk about things when asked, 10% will actively go out of their way to talk with others, investigate and have an intellectual curiousity and a 1% will create content, lead opinion and influence through their insight and collaboration with others. Bradley Horowitz from Yahoo wrote about this and so did James Cherkoff who talked about Harley Davidson. Wikipedia also discussed this . This 1% idea reminds me of Mensa’s membership requirement of having an IQ in the top 2% of the world’s population; a requirement conceived back in 1946.

With this information in mind, Sean Moffitt thought it would be great to have a blog-off of the top 1% Canadian bloggers. A friendly competition among our fellow Canucks. I’ve been lucky to be part of this group of Canadian thinkers and I am in awe of walking among giants.

The rules are:
– choose and develop 3 of your best posts (all from 2007 and at least, one that is new) and submit them into the competition
– an expert panel will rate them and deliver their verdict in September
– if you make it though, you’ll qualify into the round of 32, the round of 8 and the final four and as I quote from Highlander – “there can only be one” General of the 1% Army – could it be you?

So I need your help. Help me choose my initial 3 blog posts for submission. Email or comment here your top 3 choice blog links and I’ll cull them into what I’ll be submitting to Sean next week. I value your input so do send me a note or two. While you’re at it, maybe let me know what you’d like to see posted here or a problem that you may be facing at work that need an outsider to see objectively and maybe I could provide my assistance through this blog. Looking forward to your emails and blog comments.

Thank you to all you have provided your emails and suggested links – here are the top three that you voted on and have been sent for the blog off.

I like this idea Robin. I’ll have to go through your posts and see which ones I like! Keep up the good work! I enjoy reading even if I don’t comment. 🙂
