What will you do with $10?

For the price of two venti lattes your $10 can go to a worthy cause. After reading Bill’s book, Giving and reading my friend, Beth Kanter‘s post on her quest to raise monies for impoverished kids in Cambodia through the Sharing Foundation, it was important for me to take part in the cause. The Sharing Foundation helps meet the physical, emotional, educational and medical needs of orphaned and seriously disadvantaged children in Cambodia. So I don’t have espresso drinks tomorrow but my $10 goes to better the lives of up to 1,500 children. That I can definitely live with and I think its an easy tradeoff and better for my overall health anyway.

Here are pointers from Beth that I’d like to repost here:
~ Donate $10 or more to the Sharing Foundation through Global Giving Fundraiser set up by Blogger Michele Martin of the Bamboo project!
~ If this cause is one of four of the top causes to get the most unique donors, they will win $50,000 for the Sharing Foundation as part of America’s Giving Challenge. So with $10 and 10 minutes of your time you can help improve the lives of over 1,500 children in one of the world’s poorest countries.
~ If you are a blogger and want to participate in this blogger’s campaign, you can sign up here.

You need to act quickly as this ends Jan 31. But I don’t suggest stopping the giving after that date as the sharing goes on until there’s equity of healthcare, education, [you can fill in the rest]… Idealistic? Maybe but this is one step I can do that will move us forward to that goal.

PS Beth created a vblog with her son regarding this cause below. Check it out.

  • Hi there just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren¡¯t loading properly. I¡¯m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I¡¯ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.

  • Thanks for the books Beth. And yes I did have chicken adobo at a Makati (Philippines) restaurant 🙂

  • Robin,

Thanks for reblogging this. I sent the books off and hope you got them okay before you left! Eat some chicken adobo for me
